We’ve all heard the expression, “knowledge is power.” Of course, that’s only true when knowledge is applied. This is obvious for complex procedures like brain surgery and rocket science. However, we often forget that real knowledge must include daily practical activities, skillfully applied to the task at hand. Only then can knowledge (and subsequently POWER) be achieved.
Have you ever asked someone, “Can you be on time?” Most often the response is an emphatic “yes”. Yet if that person is habitually late it proves they’re lacking that knowledge, regardless of what they claim or believe. Knowledgeable application to manage one’s responsibilities and reasonably predict variables is a real skill; a learned skill that’s valuable. Like the saying goes, it’s not rocket science.
Achievement is the real test. Early this month I met with a prospective client who believes he has an excellent salesperson; yet during a conference call, the salesperson (grudgingly) offered to take sales appointments only one day a week. He actually said this to his boss! I could rant, but I won’t. My prospective client’s blood pressure shot up higher than mine. Reality is, if that guy ever did have the ability to sell, he’s lost it. It’s gone. Worse, he made it clear that he has zero desire to change.
Applied Knowledge is Power!
The successful clients I’ve worked with past and present are among the most knowledgeable experts in their chosen fields. Jim Athens, owner of Vanguard Motor Sales, is an incredible entrepreneur who runs one of the best classic car shops in the country. Dick Chelten, CEO of Chelten Benefits Group, built his first insurance agency into the third largest in the state. He quickly surpassed hundreds of multi-generational agencies that had grown “fat-and-lazy”. Today, he’s successfully solving many of the problems created by ObamaCare by offering wholesale group GAP insurance. Fred Madley, best known as The Godfather of Michigan Real Estate, continues to coach and inspire me. Rex Tubbs, owner of Engraving Connection, is fondly known as the mild-mannered millionaire. After almost forty years in the business, Rex runs circles around his competitors using all variety of technology and good ole school methods to dominate his business. Ralph Cunningham, President of Midwest Management Group, “discovered” a gold mine selling health benefits and human resources management services to charter schools. These are some of the tough “lions” in our pack. There are many others, all achievers and worthy of praise, but space is limited to name them all here. You know who you are.
Our recent C.M.O. Bronze client, Steve Salcedo, owner of Ultra Flow in Connecticut, is among our newest crop of top-of-the-pack, talented people to watch. When I outlined our Five Irrefutable Pillars of Marketing, he got it; Steve IS working and creatively applying what is tested and proven to work for his business. There’s no room for subjective, ill-informed opinion in his world.
Education, inspiration and applied knowledge are all part of the “success secret”. To quote Mark Twain, common sense is not so common. But if you’re part of the Rogue Pride, you’re different. Just like a small earth tremor that becomes a tidal wave, our new Rogue Marketing offline-to-online integration is gaining momentum. Check out our YouTube channel at www.RogueMarketingSystems.com featuring my favorite superstars of yesterday, today, and tomorrow, including Jim Rohn, Tim Ferris, Dave Ramsey, and David Allen. Also be sure to subscribe to www.successthread.com, written by master copywriter Vitaly Grinblat, one of the most prolific, profitable, and productive copywriters in the country. He’s one among the top few “insiders” who everybody in the know reads, counts on for advice (including me) and buys from
